Let's get with the program...IT WON'T HAPPEN! They've still got 2 really tough opponents left on their schedule(Indy, Pittsburgh). And even if they win those 2 games, they still won't go undefeated because near the end of the season(supposing they stretch this undefeated streak to 11-12 games), if they lock up everything, they'll just play their 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th stringers just so their starters won't get hurt before the playoffs...Face it, if and when they lock up everything(division, 1st round bye, homefield), every game from that point on will be meaningless. Anyone else agree with my logic?

first off, SHUT UP ABOUT THE SPY GATE INCIDENT! i am a pats fan and i do agree it was wrong. but if it gave them such an advantage, why didn't the go undefeated four years in a row? next, of course they have a legitimate chance to go undefeated. i agree, it will be tough, but don't you think it was tough for the '72 dolphins. tom Brady is on pace to bread the single season TD record. they have a better D than Indy, and Brady finally has WR's. don't forget that the pats were a couple of dropped passes away from another super bowl. and as for the steelers, they are not an elite team like the pats or colts. all the pats have to do is beat the colts and it will be easy. and as for the argument about sitting the starters after the pats clinch everything, it will not happen. Bill is sick of people trying to take away all his accomplishments, and he wants to stick it to everyone. and also, he is a student of the game, and loves the idea of going 16-0 even if he won't admit it publicly. and finally, why would he sit the starters after the pats clinch everything, they could easily be 13-0 when that happens and that means four weeks of rest for the starters before the first playoff game, and that could make them rusty.

now that's logic, so don't be ignorant and just ignore what i said because you don't like the pats or bill, it makes sense.

Sound logic.

I'm not sure a perfect season is motivation enough to cause the Patriots to really play to win those final games (in your scenerio). I think it all depends on how healthy they are at the end of the season. If they are in good health and still have a perfect record intact, I suspect they will at least make a decent effort in each game but if they need to rest some players I have no doubt they will and this may cost them near the end.

Its really gonna depend on the teams mentality. Do they want the perfect record more than anything or is simply winning the Super Bowl enough? I suspect it will be a moot point because they could easily slip up and loose a game they should win within the coming weeks.

Dumbest comment of the day: "The TD record* would not be all that impressive when you consider that Brady and the Pats are focusing/have been focusing their attention on breaking that record instead of just letting it happen in the natural flow of the game. " Right, they have been forsaking victories to go after this record accoring to you. It's actually a lot more impressive than Manning because it wasn't done indoors for the past 5 games. Manning had 5 indoor games and no wind or rain. So stuff that in your pipe and smoke it. It will be the first 16-0 team. Very impressive. There hasn't even been a team to go 14-0 in their first 14 in the past 35 years.

I agree with you. Once they have everthing locked up coach Belichick will want to spare his starters injuries and see what some of the benchwarmers are capable of. Another factor is that Belichick will want to keep his guys focused on the Super Bowl and not get hung up going undefeated during the regular season. Therefore I expect the Pats will lose at least one game, and Belichick won't see that as an entirely bad thing. Losing at least one game would keep them humble and hungry heading into the playoffs.

Not to mention they are going to face a few teams that will bring them all they can handle because they have nothing to lose. And then they may end up playing some down right desperate teams. That can get very dangerous nearing the end of the season.

Well it's only happened once in history. The Patriots are a truly great team and I believe the only team that can beat them are the Colts as it looks right now. I believe they would kill Pittsburgh to be honest. But you're right about them resting their players near the end of the season that is unless they have to win to get home field advantage. Your logic is sound but face it, the Patriots have a great team and there is no disputing that at this time.

Even if they did break the record, it should have an asterik. I think there is a chance for them to go undefeated since theyve probably found other ways to cheat that are not so obvious. I will never respect their 3 championships....how many did they cheat in? Until Belicheat is thrown out of the league, anything the Cheatriots achieve is tainted.

Commentators were saying that week one for god sakes. At least wait until the get past the Colts. I think they'll loss to a team nobody expects them too even if they get passed Indy and Pittsburgh. It's just too hard to be that consistent.

I agree with your logic on the front of resting for the playoffs. If they lose, it COULD be then.

They get some defensive starters back and their offense is nearly unstoppable.

They will probably lose once, but almost certainly not more than twice or thrice (three times).
