I was run down by a hit and run car when I was 12 years old.
I was in agony as I had a broken femur and nose then I had to spend 12 weeks in hospital with my leg strapped up in the air. Grease the movie had just premiered and I was more upset about missing that than my leg being broken! Thought great at least I'll get out of doing school work, then the head teacher arrived carrying school papers for me to work on just great huh?

One day I'm coming up to a red light, and there are cars waiting at the light already. On the corner to my right was a Sunoco station, and a woman was waiting to make a left coming out of the station. I stopped so as not to block the dirveway, and since there was no one coming out of the side street that had the green light, and the rest of the traffic going my way was pretty far back, I waved her out.

She pulled out, and had all the time in the world.....had she just pulled out. But when she got into my passing lane, she stopped completely, I guess to look for traffic coming the other way (a good habit, execpt for this time). Up the passing lane comes an 18-wheeler...she started to go, but then when she saw the truck coming, she must have frozen, because the car stopped dead a second time, and POW!!!!

I gotta tell you, I was sick to my stomach. She got spun around and pushed into the some of the cars waiting for the light. Fortunately, she wasn't seriously hurt, although it took the emergency people the better part of two hours to cut her out of the car.

Needless to say, while I still don't block driveways, I never, ever, wave people out....they're on their own.

No, but my son and I came upon a motorcycle accident a few min. after it happened and it was terrible. I and 2 or 3 guys did CPR on the fellow for about 30 min. before the ambulance got there and pronounced him dead at the scene. I am sure he had a broken neck. Even though I am an icu nurse it was AWFUL. I am still haunted by it and it was over 2 months ago. My 13 year old was pretty grossed out as well.

Yes....

1) While sitting on the fence with some friends one night, a car speeding tried to make the turn onto our road, slide sideways, nearly hitting us on the fence, and the car continued past us, and eventually stopped when it went down the embankment into a small creek. No one was seriously hurt.

2) A guy on a motorcycle hit a parked car at the gas station near door to where I lived as a kid. The guy was presumed drunk. When the guy hit the car, he hit it on the passenger front door, he flew over the car and landed in our side driveway. From what I was told and saw, the guy was badly hurt, but did survive.

3) While walking to a local store, a car flew past and through a red light at a very busy intersection. The car was hit near the rear, which caused the car to spin, the car then flipped over and slid down the road on its roof. The passenger was killed instantly, as her head came out of the window, which caused severe head trauma, the driver wasn't hurt bad. A very gross scene to say the least.

Unfortunately yes...2 weeks ago I witnessed an accident of a motorcycle running into a truck head-on. The cyclist who was only 18 years old was pronounced dead on the scene. I helped to try and find a pulse on the guy, but could find none. He was trapped under the truck at the time. We realized he was dead and covered him up with a blanket to keep people from staring. I am still have nightmares about it.

I have witnessed an accident. I am one of those guys who HAS to pull over and help out/talk to the police to report what I saw. I have been in accidents where nobody did that, and it was my word against theirs, whereas if someone had taken the time to report...I may not have been affected as I was.

Fender benders. The worst was seeing a little girl get hit by a car out in front of the store where I worked. She was injured but not seriously and fortunately she was fine. Her Mom tried to sue the driver but I witnessed the whole thing and he did more than everything to avoid hitting her so her suit was tossed out of court. She hasn't spoken to me since.

i was riding in my brothers car on the day before thanks giving and we were on a state highway, when we noticed a car that was suppossed to stop on a road that entered on to this highway is slowly rolling on to the highway and there was a car coming toward us in the other lane and the car rolling onto the highway is now halfway into the other lane of the highway still rolling and the car coming toward us pulls into our lane as my brother pulled onto the shoulder to give the on coming car some room We passed the other car as it hit the front of the rolling car with the edge of his front bumper. The car that hit the rolling car stopped and we stopped and went to the rolling car and the woman driving was so wasted on perscription pain killers she thought that our car got hit by the other car, she was trying to start her car and the radiators gone , She didn't know her car was on the highway or damaged ,In the other car was a family from Michigan going to a relatives near by for thanksgiving, the driver says to my brother I'm glad that you got on the shoulder or we all might be gonners. The lady was still in her car on the highway when the highway patrol came and the troopper had a heck of a time convincing the old lady that her car was not going to be driven away.

A car clipped the rear bumper of a lumber truck in the opposite lane and was thrown into my lane, I moved to the shoulder, back onto the road and the mini-van behind me hit it.
The family inside was fine.
