I just read this article about marriage/sex with robots. Why do they consider this to be okay but same sex marriage isn't?

Excellent thought provoking question.
My first thought was that we already have enough toys, plastic blow ups, and robotic gadgets to have sex with.
In this strange world, people are leaving estates to their dogs.
The reason why it is possible for people to marry and have sex with robots, is because there is no emotion. No human traits, no love or affection. Just cold. It is an isolated direction we are moving towards as a nation. It is safer to imagine than be part of a true human emotional relationship. It is easier.
Right now there are worlds in chat rooms where people disguise themselves in cartoon images and have sex with other cartoon characters. They can be what ever they want. But there isnt any human emotion that is real. It is all what they wish they could do if it was accepted. These people are not happy with life as it is, and do not feel accepted, so they create who they think they want to be.
I hope that same sex marriage is considered a reality, not another fantasy make believe robotic institution.
That we as a community have fought to be accepted for who we are and not what we have to imagine being, or pretend not being.
It takes time to be human. People who are the same sex must go through a personal evolution in a far off land we call this Country. We have to fight for our beliefs. We have to believe in our pride.
The people who believe robots and humans will be in our future, are those who are afraid to acknowledge reality.
Those who live in made up worlds of cartoon characters.
Those who are constantly searching for their own identity.
Maybe that is the chance we need to come together as a same sex institution and be considered the only human entity left on earth.
Way out thinking...but then again why not??

Uh, sorry. That wasn't an article about marriage/sex with robots. That was just a review for the new NBC series "The Bionic Woman." I can see how there would be confusion. It'll get worse next week when Jaime Summers goes down and the only one that can save her is the Energizer Bunny.

Same sex marriage is gaining popularity, give it time, it's new. Sex with robots would be like sex with toys, and that has been done for years.

Well, there's not a single mention of it in Leviticus so I guess it's okay. After all, Leviticus seems to be the benchmark for what the modern Christian church believes. I just wish somebody could explain how we are supposed to know which parts of it apply and which ones can be ignored.

I read it yesterday and said the same thing. How can sex/marriage with a machine be ok but not gay marriage.
