what were you or what was someone else who won? I won once as Marilyn Monroe at a bar, but I've used that costume too many times now......any other ideas?

I came in 2nd to a Freddy Crouger mask! I was the Joker from Batman. It took 2 hours to get ready everytime I went out. My hair is very dark, so I had to spray it white 1st (which came out gray), then spray the green. I bought an old tuxedo and died it fushia. I was mad! All that work to lose to a rubber mask, but I walked away with 50 bucks! It did however take about 1/2 hour just to clean out my hair and another 20 minutes to get all the make-up off. Then 10 minutes to clean the shower since the water would bounce off my hair at first, splattering green all over the place.

I've won lots of times. I dressed up as Lady Godiva one year. I wore a nude colored body suit (with legs and arms), a very long blonde wig and other accessories. I went as the Millenium baby in 1999. (not your average New Year's Baby)
I love dressing up for Halloween. It's so much fun. This year, I bought a sexy pirate costume but I'm actually going to be Mrs. Captain Morgan (because Capt Morgan & diet coke is my favorite alcoholic drink)

Yes, we won best group dressed like the Wizard of Oz characters. I was the cowardly lion (the King of the forest).
We also won best group a different year all dressed as Crayola crayons. I was the color green.
(We made our own costumes both times)

Once hubby was Mrs Claus, I was Santa and our dog was a reindeer and we won mostly because the reindeer kinda looked a lot like Max on the Grinch who Stole Christmas and acted like him, too. Dogs, they always steal the show.
