I live in the far west side of San Antonio (less than a mile from Sea World) I favor this part of town for a number of reasons, but US_DR_JD has told you pretty well how it really is. This part of the city is rapidly becoming a jewel in the city's crown, We have a new General Hospital that will be coming on line shortly, we have two colleges, Microsoft service center, CITI, Washington Mutual, Sea World, many many Stores like Wal-mart, Kohl's, and HEB PLUS. It is like watching a city being born open fields today and a store tomorrow or an open field today and 2000 houses tomorrow. This area (according to TxDOT) now exceeds 50,000 in population and we are still building. All and all things are going very smoothly, including the additional schools for more and more children. I am a long time resident of San Antonio and hope that you fall in love with San Antonio as well, have fun while you are here

Nicole,
As far as events in late November
There is always a lot to do in San Antonio. Traditionally Sea World has closed after Halloween, but I aws looking today and noted that it is staying open until New Years this year.
Additionally, some key events during the last 2 weeks of November are The River Parade and Lighting of the River on 11/23. The beginning of the annual boat caroling on the Riverwalk on 11/24 and the Houston St. Fair and Market on 11/24.
In addition there are the usual Museums, Cultural Events, Rides and Attractions, Missions, Heritage Areas, Sports, and other activites that make San Antonio a tourist haven throughout the year. The best way to see all the attractions and events is to go to the Convention and Visitors Bureau Site at : www.sanantoniocvb.com
they will have the listing of events that I could never hope to type here.
As far as hotels, there are three areas I would recommend, Downtown, which is close to events and the Riverwalk, but the rates can be higher in the holiday season due to availability. Near the Airport/North Star Mall, which is very nice for shopping and would also place you near the Quarry MArket Complex and within an easy drive on 281 to the downtown area. Or in the I-10 1604 area near La Canterra and the Rim shopping areas. This would also make travel to downtown easy on I-10 but place you in close proximity to the shopping of La Canterra Mall.
For Hotels, information, location, ratings, and maps, you can't beat Yahoo Travel, here is their site. I could recommend specific hotels, but with there being three divergent areas, and not knowing your specific times, I don't know what I would recommend. (ie...I would not recommend trying to get a 3 or 4 star on the Riverwalk for the River parade at this late date, the prices will be high)
If shopping is your main intention then here are your choices for best San Antonio Shopping:
In North San Antonio
The Shops at La Canterra

The Rim

In the Airport North Central Area
North Star Mall

Quarry Market Shopping Center

Downtown
Rivercenter Mall

Where to live:
The whole town is booming.
There are new condos in Southtown, a great place for restaurants ant the arts and entertainment. (though the school district sucks)
Downtown has some new condos and lofts which are pricey and nice, and of course close to everything (and the school districts suck)
North Central - Alamo Heights is a traditional favorite area of town as is Castle hills, both are nice areas to live, with nice restaurants and shops.
North East - The biggest growth is along the 281/1604 area with a lot of new shopping and restaurants in the area, this is a nice area (and the schools don't suck)
Northside/Great Northwest this area is also rapidly developing, there are some areas with traffic issues, but not significantly worse than anywhere else in town. there is developing shopping and restaurants, and entertainment in this area also. (and the schools don't suck here either)
Have a great trip!!
We Love San Antonio!!
Hope you love our city also.

it relatively is massive here and it relatively is a sturdy time to come again to San Antonio, there is often somewhat much less foot site visitors as quickly as colleges are decrease back in consultation so i'm going to pass out on a limb and say that it could be relatively super. Sea international remains open and so is six flags. on the twenty 9th the Graff farm opens it relatively is gate to the everyday public with a maximum suitable Corn Maize. they also have a mini maize for the little adult men, there's a rustic keep there and there is likewise a pumpkin patch this is neat to work out toddlers searching for justthe suitable pumpkin for Halloween, there's a hay bounce, hayride, cow prepare, and so a lot greater issues there to do, this could be a exciting place no count in case you're 2 or 80 two y.o. cost is $8.00 for adults and $3.00 for toddlers 3-11 y.o and decrease than 3 it relatively is loose. they have a numer of specials supply them a decision, you will possibly geta greater advantageous deal i be attentive to that militia the two lively accountability and retired are loose on the twenty 9th i think of it is an incredible way of them asserting thank-you.

You have to go to the Riverwalk and meander around, especially if you are going after Thanksgiving when it is all lit up:)
I live in Corpus now and when my husband and I go to visit we usually stay at the new Hilton Garden Inn near the Airport (its at 281/San Pedro and Bitters I believe). Its fairly central, just about 10 minutes from down town, about 2 minutes from North Star Mall, and about 5 minutes from 1604 which will take you to Fiesta Texas, Sea World, and if you so desire places like Boerne, Bandera and Lake Medina.
Have fun on your trip. Its really a wonderful city. I miss it terribly.
