I work for small business, I AM the IT department, amoung other things. We don't have that.
I spent 5 years in a major corporate situation. Be wise, and view their company policy. Anything, and everything you type in here, IM, email, yada yada, they see. Think about it.
It will NOT matter if you get all your work done.

Ha, I used to work for a software company called, Intuit (they make Turbo Tax) anyway, I had my own office, obviously with PC, and when I got tired of doing Excel all day or other work stuff, I said, what the f***, I know they're probably monitoring me..(they were, it turned out.) I only used it for checking my email accounts obsessively. Oh and IMing with friends. :o) (and I worked like a fricken slave! So they can sit and spin. )

I know they monitor it, but seriously, what can they say to me? At least I'm not tokin up a joint before I work on a vehicle like most of the people around here!

Just keep in mind everything you do CAN be seen my the IT geeks. Any and all of it can be printed and handed over to your boss at any time. I married an IT geek, I know this to be true. I have never given a rats @ss and always do what I want regardless of whose "time" we're on, so I say screw it and keep doing what you've been doing.

they do monitor my internet usage and i use it the same. my boss knows i get my work done and i'm one of the good ones that doesn't look at porn all day

It would probably freak me out to find that out, but I'd keep doin' what I'm doin' anyway - my work isn't suffering. I don't look at porn or anything like that, so it really doesn't matter. . .

If they haven't said anything to you about using it at work, then I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't put anything on there that they can use in court against you.
