Well, if there was such a vote, you would think that since the people have made their requests known and voted on it, it would be peaceful. Since this is not a perfect world, I believe it would take a revolution.

Its not that hard actually. Every election cycle until the 2 electable branches are cleared out, everybody just votes anti-incumbant. They should get the message at that point who exactly they work for and who's best interests they need to keep in mind.

Then we would have no government and anarchy would be the only option left.

Actually there is an option in some states to do this. For example, it is written into the Texas Constitution that Texas voters can actually dismantle the state government. Doing so would sever ties to the federal government. Not promoting doing this, just pointing out it is possible in some states.

It would take an armed revolution, especially if more of the Left takes power.

Won't happen. An interesting poll was done a few years ago.The question was:How do you think congress is doing their job? and the second question was:How do you think your congressional representative and senator are doing their jobs?
70% of respondants thought congress was doing a poor job;75% thought thier representative and senators were doing a good job.
And the moral is:
Everyone is doing a bad job except the one that represents ME.
People have a twisted view of the world, don't look for any real change anytime soon.

I imagine there would be resistance. I don't think they understand peacefully. I believe We the People could come up with a better solution other than picking up arms.

you could not get enough votes to do it. there are too many people dependent on "handouts" (wealth redistribution) that keep voting in those who promise such handouts. it's called the tyranny of the majority. the politicians steal from the wealthy to buy the votes of the poor in order to stay in power. another revolution is required to set things aright -- why do you think gun control is such a popular topic?
