Here is the definition of life

"Life is a condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism, reproduction, and the power of adaptation to environment through changes originating internally."

Reproduction is a necessity of life, if they can't reproduce, why should they have more rights than a fetus?

Dee F, I'm asking why you shouldn't be able to terminate your offspring after birth as long as you do it before they are able to start reproducing.

You must be the parent of a teenager! My sister once told me it was too late to have an abortion when my daughter was about 15.

By the way. whose definition is that?

It's the -capacity- to reproduce that's important, not wether or not they can right this moment. By that logic, women would only be "alive" a few days out of the month while they are fertile.

A fetus is differnt from a child in that a child can live on it's own. You can set a baby down and go to the other room, and it won't die for days and days, but a fetus is utterly dependent on it's mother until very late in the pregnancy when it's own organs form.

Not that I'm arguing in favor of abortion, I reserve the right to not have an opinion, just trying to help you keep your thinking straight.

It is also interesting to note that the definition you provide would consider fire, most crystals, and viruses as "alive".

Because its wrong to kill people? You should'nt be able to "terminate" either way. Both a fetus and a child have the ability to to reproduce if you give them time. If I cut off your balls you won't have that ability. Is it ok to terminate you then?
