Yes I remember the $300.

No, I don't think Bush Jr is fiscally responsible, let alone conservative.

Never mind stock, should have bought gold or foreign currency. The dollar has lost, on average, 25% of its value against other currencies since the Iraq war started. That's what the debt has done.

Most certainly--and I said then and still feel that the smartest thing for him to have done would have been to put that "surplus" into the Social Security Administration coffers. And I'm a Democrat!!! It's hard to tell the parties apart nowadays. All I know for sure is that if the election were being held next month instead of a year from next month I wouldn't know who the heck to vote for. A sad state of affairs.

Yes and I used it to pay some bills. It was wasteful.
I didn't buy stock in Halliburton because I didn't have the money too. It was hard enough to make ends meet and it was just me. I was working a lot. When I wasn't at work, I was doing work for work. I was out of college without debt. I can't imagine if I had college debt. Our economy is a sham.

Yes, I remember. I got my $300 check in July of 2001, and I thought it was such an irresponsible thing for Bush to do that I was tempted to send it back. But, I was preparing to move, so I figured if Bush was stupid enough to behave that irresponsibly with the U.S. budget, I may as well use it for my moving expenses.

To answer question #2, Ithink that the GOP is a bunch of corrupt money-grubbing old farts who only think of ways to benefit themselves and their rich buddies. That means that they're conservative with money only when it means cutting off funding for programs that benefit the middle and lower class.

Yup, you guessed it ....I'm a tree-hugger.

Remember when George changed the estate tax to the death tax and got all the middle class Americans to support the change . . . even though at the time we were only talking about estates worth over 1.5 million (now it's 2.5 million). Now, when middle class America tries to retire, social security and medicare will be underfunded and they won't get their payroll taxes back . . . but those entitled to generational wealth will pay nothing. The George . . . he's so funny.
