Ive got a very treasured 78 record I would like to have copied onto cd. Where could I have this done? Ive found a recording studio locally that does it but is this the best place to go? How much would it cost? Any help appreciated :0)

There is actually PC software available at a very reasonable price that enables you to do this - you just have to connect your 78rpm player to your computer. Some software will take out cracks and pops that you might find on a 78rpm disc.

I can't be specific about the software because, I'm sad to say, I can't remember. But I do know it's out there.

Alternatively, there are good CD player/recorders that just link up to an amplifier in the normal way and you can just play your 78rpm record (with the right turntable, of course) through the same amp and record it that way. You won't have many (if any) editing facilities that way, however.

Good luck!
