My uncles and cousins who used to stutter (same thing as stammer) got the book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" by The Stuttering Foundation of America and worked through it step by step. It can be found in the estore at www.stutteringhelp.org, at Amazon.com, and at some public libraries.

I have a, now almost unnoticeable, stammer on my "t"s and "s"s and I do not need help but the thing that worked for me was my parents and teachers telling me to slow down when I was talking and weirdly it works even now as when I get stressed, nervous or very tired I still stutter occasionally.
