I don't know what I can do or say to help her because she told me that she thinks that she deserves it. Any advice?

I absolutely told her that no one deserves to get hit. She seemed so different than the person that I knew in college and was very depressed. I told her what a sweet person she is (and she is) and that she of all people does not deserve that. I'm not going to go fight her husband though because I know enough about this to understand that would only make things worse.

Call her some day and tell her you've been mugged. Make it sound really bad, like you took a really severe beating over it. When she asks (and surely she will) if the police found who did it or if you're going to press charges, tell her no. Cause you feel like you deserved it. Maybe she'll get the point???

I would tell her that no one deserves to get hit...especially by someone who is supposed to love her (that is what a husband is supposed to do anyways). Tell her that she should get counselling and possibly marriage counselling if she intends to "stick it out" with this guy. By saying that she "deserves it" tells me that she may have been brought up in a family where spousal abuse was acceptable and the reality is that it isn't acceptable. She may need to go to a women's shelter to leave the situation (which can be another suggestion to her).

For yourself, take care of yourself too. You can only offer so much help to the girl before she must start helping herself.

Beat the F*CK OUT of him?

...No, but seriously. You should tell her that NO ONE deserves* it, and that she's much better than that.
