I think a collage of all the main leaders of WWII could be good. Divide it into how many leaders there were (like Stalin, FDR, Churchhill). Bascially, have each section what they stood for. You could put the flag of each country they represent.

One or both of the World War II major naval battles would be a good topic. Midway and the Philippines (more so the later) established the United States as the naval power we are today. Another idea, also from World War II, would be to write about Bradley's drive. Godd luck with whatever you decide.

If you want to do your project on a person from WWII I would suggest Audie Murphy. You can find a lot of information on him as he was the most decorated American soldier from WWII. He started out very poor but hard working. The Marines and Navy wouldn't take him because he was small in stature and looked very young. The army eventually gave him a battlefield commission. It is a very interesting story - he wrote an autobiography about his life that could help, called "To Hell and Back".

Battle of the Somme is a VERY good battle to use for World War 1. It was a horrific battle. Millions died because of bad judgement by Brittish leaders.

Battle of the Somme was when they were told by Field Marshall Haig to walk 'slowly towards the enemy'

The Germans had hidden away deep underground so had been unaffected by the continuous bombing by British forces.

Wounds were awful and the chances of coming back from going over the Front to NO-Mans-Land was slim.

People would injure themselves so they could be sent back. This could be seen as desertation. People could be court marshalled and shot for this.

For WWI you can talk about the assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary by a Serbian nationalist in 1914. or The Balkan Wars (1912-13) remained localized but increased Austria's concern for its territorial integrity, while the solidification of the Triple Alliance made Germany more yielding to the demands of Austria, now its one close ally. The assassination (June 28, 1914) of Archduke Francis Ferdinand at Sarajevo set in motion the diplomatic maneuvers that ended in war.

for WWII you can talk about D-DAY or Pearl Harbor or Hiroshima and Nagasaki where we dropped the nuclear bombs either way your set for an A+

What about Erich Raeder he was supreme commander of the Kriegsmarine. He was replaced by Commander of Submarines Karl Dönitz, and all naval building priorities turned to the U-boats. Good luck : )

Need a topic eh? Try picking one yourself! But anyways, if I were doing a project I would either pick D-day (the invasion at Normandy) or the battle of the bulge, which was the real turning point in the European theater.

For World War I battles, try Passchendaele (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passchendale ) or Gallipoli (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Gallipoli). As for people, how about King Albert I of Belgium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_I_of_Belgium )? Germany had to go through Belgium to invade France, and Albert was a new king; Germany assumed he was like his late uncle and they'd pay him to stay out of their way. Instead, he called up troops and fought them.
