Doesn't it seem both sides are far more interested in waxing polemic than they are in a rational discourse and a pragmatic approach to resolving issues?

it may seem that way to Conservatives, who's stance at the moment is to stifle the democratic process and buy time for their fearless leader to run out the clock, then to admit failure
the left/liberals who try to advance the issues have to run the gauntlet of the right wing attack machine,(see Kerry,McCain, Cleland). i have found it is extremely difficult to speak rationally about problems when one side uses fear tactics and hides behind patriotism. it may seem, to some, as the same beast but it would be more appropriate to look at it as the same animal,but one in front and one in back. I'll let you decide which is which.

Pretty much, look how well Clinton worked with The Republican Senate to accomplish shared ideals.
The House situation was different due to the influx of PNAC supporters.

Actually, I think both sides are far more interested in power and lining their pockets with our money than they are about what's best for the people of this country.

Just think of it this way the Government is Bi-Polar due to the entire situation or if you follow it to closely you'll go insane. We live in a den of in-equity.

They are POLITICIANS and in order to be a Politician you must be full of shi-, be a Liar, tell the people what they want to hear, and always blame it on the other guy.

posturing is all they have. it's all about the illusion of choice - both sides are owned lock, stock and key by the same corporate interests.
