As far as I'm concerned that's another way to force people to be politically correct & not have a mind of your own. Since i was a kid it was always Merry Christmas but now all fo a sudden b/c some ppl want to make this a religious fight now they are trying to force the public to say Happy Holidays. I still say Merry Christmas regardless. This is in no way trying to bash anyone or any holidays but i don't see anyone trying to make a controversial thing when someone says Happy Hanukkah or Happy Kwanzaa. It's only a problem when someone says Merry Christmas. It's another obvious double standard against christianity. My opinion is if you don't want to say Merry Christmas don't say it. Don't take away other people's right to say it. Same way with me if i don't want to say Happy Holidays. It's my right to say Merry Christmas if that's what i choose. Not a bashing thing against anyone. Just my honest opinion.

If someone wished me Happy Hanukkah i would say it right back anyway. Life is too short to get your blood pressure going over some thing so petty.

I couldn't agree more. Political correctness is truly reaching new levels of stupidity.
Just to put two fingers up to the PC brigade: MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Have a star for a brilliant post!

Not really, it pisses me off when people say merry Christmas to me. I suppose you would be fine with everyone saying Happy Hanukkah to you even though you are not Jewish? If you know the person is christian then obviously it would be fine to say Merry Christmas but if you have no clue what religion they are you should say happy holidays.

I totally agree and I for one will continue to say Merry Christmas !!
Also, I will not be offended the least little bit if you respond with Happy Hanukkah or Happy Kwanzaa.

Well you know it is sort of rude to say Merry Christmas to a person that you know is Jewish, or of some other religion that doesn't celebrate Christmas. I have a lot of Jewish friends, and i say happy Hanukkah to them, but to my fellow Christian friends i say Merry Christmas. It is SAFER/more POLITE to say Happy Holidays to someone that you are not sure of their religion, because some people are really tired of people just ASSUMING they celebrate Christmas when they may not. BUT i agree that FORCING people to say Happy Holidays is excessive.

I am tired of it, too. I say Merry Christmas and I have the right to freedom of speech just as anyone who answers back, Happy Hanukkah.
It's a HUGE double standard. Anyone, except a Christian, can be offended and politicians will do everything in their power to justify their being offended. But if a Christian gets offended, we are told "sorry about your luck but we have freedom of speech and can say what we want". Well, I have freedom of speech, too and I say:
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Very well put! I've just about had it with these P/C people anyhow. It will always be Merry Christmas to me. Kinda runs along the same line as trying to take God Bless America out of the Pledge of Allegiance and off our money. What next?? Kudos to ya Squirrel! Have another star! =)

I agree 100% with you. Saying Merry Christmas is just a different greeting used at a specific time of the year. It's something told out of goodwill towards others, there's no reason to turn it into this dirty two letter word.

I refuse to say Happy Holidays. I always say Merry Christmas because that is what I am wishing people. Also, you will never see my writing Merry Xmas (except that one..lol..) because it is CHRISTmas not X....If someone is Jewish, I tell them Happy Hanukka because I hope they have one too! I personally don't know anyone who celebrates Kwanzaa or I would tell them to have a Happy one of those too!
