Every three weeks, rain or shine, we have Game Night with local friends. This consists of dinner together and a game or two. We play a variety of games... go to www.boardgamegeek.com and click on "Games" for a list of the top ones.
Every other month, we have Epic Game Day. This is usually a Saturday afternoon where we can play one long game or multiple shorter games.
Good old fashion being in the same place with human beings enjoying each other's company in a friendly competitive way is a great way to spend your time.

In my area there are at least four different active game groups. I go to potluck game days (we all bring some food and play games!) at least twice a month, and someone is hosting a game night every week or so.
We play all sorts of boardgames - Settlers of Catan, Zooloretto and Ticket to Ride are some easy to learn and start with games, but there's an entire world of awesome games out there!

Yes.... some folk still get together to play some "good old fashioned" games with other people - but it's becoming a rarer occurance.
I know that there are "gaming" clubs that get together for specific types of games ... role-playing games... gambling games (like poker-nights)... or other card-style games (a few friends of mine still get together to play bridge or mah-jong).

Of course! Computers can be rigged to throw or win any game but there is nothing like the feeling another human! Search www.boardgamegeek.com for the type of game that best suits your personality and prepare to be dazzled!

Yes! In addition to 2-3 local gaming clubs, my boyfriend and I have several groups of friends that we play board games with regularly. All of us tend to favour Euro-style board games, but we've also had a Pictionary tournament (with a large markerboard) and the occasional Apples to Apples game. In addition, a few of us are amateur game designers and organize 'beta tests' of our new games.
In between game nights, we also set up online games with our friends, play games on our own and with our families, and my boyfriend listens to board game podcasts. We're geeks.
If you're interested, you can search for gaming groups in your area, or talk to your local game store. Most game stores have open gaming nights, and will occasionally hold product demos.
