Just curious... I actually think that's kinda rude since I am not a tramp..lol.. but whatever..call it what you want... I was just wonderin if anyone knows why...

It is called that because the insinuation is that getting a tattoo there, assuming you wear shorter shirts, draws the eye to that area, basically announcing to the world “look at my butt!”
Originally (late 1980’s and 1990’s) it was called a target, and it was joked that girls got them to give their boyfriends something to aim for in the doggie-style position, if you catch my meaning. This of course was just guys being crude and joking around, but that carried over to the concept that women who have the “target” got it for that reason, and from there the jump was made to call them tramps – so then the tramp stamp.

Regardless if people call a lower back tattoo a tramp stamp or not....you should get a tattoo there because YOU want it there. Tattooing is an art. NOT a slutty piece of clothing. As long as the tat has meaning to you and your not getting it "JUST TO BE COOL" then tattoo away. If your getting a tattoo that you know will be seen and you know that it will make guys go "oooo" or "ahhhh" then yes, it is a tramp stamp. If you are getting a long tattoo that stretches across your lower back it might sting a little due to the fat on the love handles. Especially with the color. You will also probably feel some pressure when they draw directly on your spine. It's really not that bad. I have one thats the size of a sheet of paper and I am big wuss.

Technically, it's only a tramp stamp if you get your name tattooed there. The joke is, that way, when doing it doggy style, the guy will remember your name.
I think the label persists because a tatoo in that area calls attention to your butt, and a lot of people think that only tramps and sluts try to attract attention. Plus, a lot of the same people think that any tattoo is a sign of tramp-ness.

It is just a nickname, because usually when a girl has a tattoo there she wears short shirts and low cut jeans to show it off...hence they nicknamed it tramp stamp. Referring to the girls that wear those types of clothing. I dont think the name is appropriate..probably given by the preppy's or mormons that are against any type of body showing except arms and legs.

I think all tatoos have their own individual meaning to the person that it is permanetly placed on. As long as you know it's not a tramp stamp. Then who cares what everyone else thinks.

I think it's because some of girls who have those tattoos are considered to be promiscuous. I really have no clue. Although I do know some girls who have it and they're not promiscuous at all. I think it's just a generalization that's been picked up and carried on.

People just like to say "tramp stamp" I think. It is no one's business where you have a tattoo. I think those really long pointy shoes like Oprah always wears are ridiculous. my point being everyone has their own opinions on stuff!

I'm sorry I called it a tramp stamp. that's just what I always have heard it as. It's kind of right there so guys will notice your *** crack if you bend over. Maybe girls don't realize what pigs guys are.

It was sexy at first, but now every single girl has one. It's hard to find a girl these days that doesn't have it. It's because girls get them now because they want to be sexy. When I see them, I think there's another girl who lacks individuality and wants to follow the herd. Why would a girl get a tattoo she can't see? She does it for others to see, that's why. She wants others to desire her, and usualy those types of girls love attention... do you see where I'm going here?

tramp stamps....*sigh* i hate how people coined that term. but my guy friends say it's called a tramp stamp, because apparently girls who have them are "easy targets" for a one night stand
