Harris is charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, as well as possession of firearms by a convicted felon.

Of course, they were for research purposes only.

I agree with Roper, we really can't judge without more facts, and I'm wondering if some of the people answering have actually read the link. There can be two ends of the spectrum, ranging from this man having been a serial sex offender with undetected crimes, which now it should be the job of the police to detect, to this being his first offence and that he could be someone in the early stages of dementia in which case he needs doctors and the social services and not prison where he would be quite difficult for the staff to deal with. Apart from having been frightened there was no physical violence against this girl, most children can after all run faster than a 76 year old. He has been put under a supervision order which we all hope will be effective. Another cheaper option than prison would be to circulate his picture in the local schools and tell the children to be on the look out for him and run like hell if he approaches, I don't know if anyone has thought of this. I find it a bit depressing that we focus on someone like this in a question, when most sexual abuse takes place not with strangers but within families and instituions where young people are supposedly trusting their elders, and are too frightened to speak out, if Elisabeth Fritzl had been able to do this at the age of 11 in Austria the whole cellar obscenity would have been avoided.

TI gets arrested, house gets raided in ATL

hmmm, something fishy is up. TI got arrested today in Atlanta. Given the watchful eye of hip hop police across the country, that fact is not all that surprising. Not that I figure TI does much of anything wrong these days besides weed and some driving infractions.

But why would “The ATF, U.S. Marshalls: Fugitive Task Force, Fulton County SWAT, Fulton County PD, Dekalb County PD, and the ATF/Atlanta PD Violent Crime Impact Team” all be raiding his house and arresting him? That’s an awful lot of badges and ammo belts in one place, right?

So far, no word on the actual charge, but….we’ll see. sigh. Sidenote: the authorities are probably high fiving each other on the way they timed the raid exactly at the time of the start of the BET awards, to jam Mr. “Multi-nominee” Clifford Harris up that much more, eh? Oh you thought you were gonna have a good night? No, sireebob.

UPDATE: according to LT. Dinwiddie at SOHH, the ATF had been investigating TI for illegal gun purchases, and now he’s been arrested for violating probation. Ugh. That’s what bonded security is for. Why not even send a cousin or something through training school and get them licensed?

UPDATE 2: Well, it looks like the FBI arrested one of TI’s bodyguards last week when he tried to buy machine guns (?!?) and silencers (aw, frick) for TI. The bodyguard flipped on Tip and told the feds that he’s bought 17 guns so far for TI and various members of his crew.

Complete disaster for one of the most promising artists in the game. A huge album, a huge movie, a Chevy deal and more….sigh

Didn't you ask about him before? Way before the news broke. Sad, he has talent yet , he can not follow simple laws. He is a bad example little one for gang associations to gun usage. Here in the US we do not need anymore excuses for kids shooting kids & innocent victims die in the crossfire. Above answered the for what. I'm sorry if he was a hero to you. How about an example now of how to be more responsible. Because he is going to jail to think about it. Good luck & be safe!

How wrong! He was evidently intent on being sexual with her, so how can this not have been treated as such? Now he has another opportunity to attempt to commit such an act, maybe he will try a younger girl ~ maybe one who can't say no. It stinks!

Quote from bonstermonster20:
"The setback comes just as T.I. was starting to earn widespread recognition with his second album, Trap Muzik, and its hit single, "Rubber Band Man." "

That is not even close to true, that album was released in 2003... T.I.'s last album was T.I. Vs T.I.P. (2007)

Anyways yes he was arrested for owning illegal guns

If you want the full detailed reason i added a link for you to read in the sources section...

Rapper T.I. was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison for violating the terms of his probation. After serving a minimum of one year, T.I. can apply for a work-release program, according to the county clerk's office in Cobb County, Georgia.

An arrest warrant for T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, was issued on December 29, ordering a revocation of his probation. He turned himself in to county officials on March 30 and had been in custody ever since (see "T.I. Hasn't Been Hiding Out Lately — He's Been In Jail").

His lawyers appeared in Cobb County Superior Court Wednesday and signed a consent order with prosecutors that essentially stipulated T.I. should be sentenced immediately, thus avoiding the need for a formal hearing.

T.I. was on probation stemming from a 1998 conviction for violating a state controlled substances act and for giving false information. After being released on probation, he earned a litany of probation violations in several counties around Georgia for offenses ranging from possession of a firearm to possession of marijuana.

The setback comes just as T.I. was starting to earn widespread recognition with his second album, Trap Muzik, and its hit single, "Rubber Band Man."
