Because it's not murder. See: Abortion is even spelled different than murder. People are murdered because they have been born. Fetuses have no rights and should never be considered the same as people.

To be a citizen of the US you must be born:
Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in those gaps. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are "citizens of the United States at birth:"

* Anyone born inside the United States
* Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person's status as a citizen of the tribe
* Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
* Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
* Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year
* Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
* Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)

The notion that abortion is murder is a religious belief--mostly in someright wing denominations (the "fundamentalists"). It's not generally a mainstream Christian belief. That's not surprising--the bible doesn't say any such thing, and Christian tradition--at least until the 1800s, was that the fetus was not a human being (did not have a soul) until the point of quickening (about the end ofthe first trimester).

So--what it boils down to is that therie's no real support for the claim "abortion is murder" other than the religious conviction of some people. And under the Constitution, they do not have the right to force others to act in accordance with their religious teaching.

Laws are, ultimately, arbitrary. Anything can be made legal or illegal - even the Constitution can be amended to make an unconstitutional law legal.

Laws can be immoral. And, of course, people can disagree about what is or isn't moral...

because it is not murder. for abortion to be murder the fetus would have to be viable (able to breathe on it's own) which a fetus cannot due during the time of when abortions are legal. it's the right wing that tries to make it, murder, pushing their religious beliefs on others.

Because the Supreme Court decided that a fetus was not a living being, and that a baby was not created at conception.

Also, it's not legal for a man to kill a fetus.

I don't think the question is if it is murder or not. The question is whether it is right or wrong to end the life unborn baby.

World renown geneticist Dr. Jerome Lejune claimed that "Life begins at conception." Modern technology has showed us that this is undoubtedly true. You've seen the programs on National Geographic and Discovery Health. You've seen the beating heart and developing brain. In this day and age, where there is a big push toward believing in science, I can't understand why more people don't accept this fact.

Therefore, the question remains, is it right or wrong to end life at this stage?

As for the legality of it, there is nothing in the US Constitution stating that it is or should be legal. Roe v. Wade was passed on a technicality and could very well be overturned someday and put to a state's rights vote.

Because it is not murder. Smashing an embryo isn't murder to some people because it's not a living, breathing child yet.

I would rather see a woman get an abortion than to have a child born that is not wanted and suffer through the horrors of child abuse, neglect, abandonment, expulsion from their homes to live a life on the streets and wade through the fate good luck or despair

Maybe the damn whore should learn how to use birth control or keep her legs close and the trashy deadbeat dad should learn how to use birth control too, and wrap his wild snake so it doesn't INFECT others.

Because it isn't murder according to the law. Murder is the unlawful killing of one human by another human. Since abortion is legal, it isn't considered unlawful killing and, therefore, isn't murder.

When/if it becomes illegal, then it will be murder.

But it won't be just abortion that is murder. Pregnant females who smoke, drink or do anything that might endanger their fetus's health will be charged with attempted murder or murder if it results in a miscarriage.

The law does not state abortion is an act of murder. People against abortion say it's murder.
