How did the canister in Times Square predict the Super Bowl XXXVII result?

In the postgame show of this Superbowl, commentators claimed that a canister was guarded by Marines in Times Square which predicted the score and MVP of the game. At the end of the game, they took out the canister and read the contents which predicted the exact final score and Dexter Jackson as MVP. What kind of technology enables it to do that?

It was a magic trick by Penn and Teller. I don't know exactly how they did it.

i think it was a gag they pulled off. Marines have better things to do than guard a cannister
