my dad told my mom he wants a divorce. the same night me and my girl had planns but i cancelled to go be with my mom. my girl got mad did i do anything wrong or is she being selfish

No you did not do anything wrong. Your mom needed you. Ask your gf would she have left her parent alone and feeling depressed? If she says yes, dump her, she's heartless. Some day you will need your gf to be there and she will be with someone else. Good Luck.

Good job on being there for your mom, your rewards will be great for that. Your girl is being selfish and I think you should drop her. If she can't understand that family comes first and your mom needed you she has no heart and is not a good person. She should be proud that you would want to be with your mom and understand the situation. A good sign of how a man will be to his wife is how he treats his mother.

Dump the girl! I'm 35 and know about this stuff. Listen, right now, your family (mom and dad) come before any girlfriend. Once you're married that changes. Your wife will come before your parents.
Seriously, break up with her now. She's immature and self-centered.
You did the right thing to go be with your mom.

She's being selfish. If she can't understand that your mother needs someone to be with her through a tough time, then you need to drop the girl. I'd doubt if your mom would approve of her being around any longer if she found out that your girl was mad when you went to support your mom.

Did you explain to her why you cancelled? If not, you should do so immediately and a decent girl will understand. If you told her why and she still had a problem with it, then I see no future for you and this girl. That's your mom and this is a devastating blow - a family emergency. Don't ever date a girl who doesn't respect your mom or family emergencies.
