The hydrogen reduces the C=O of the 3-methyl-2-butanone to give the alcohol. Since the ketone is in position 2 of your starting material the alcohol formed will be a secondary alcohol.

CH3C(=O)CH(CH3)CH3 + H2 ---> CH3CHOHCH(CH3)CH3
