i think its possible
but i think if they were to go 14-0 they would probably rest all the starters. i dont think those guys would lose anything if they sat out a couple of games.
they still have to play the Colts, Steelers and Ravens
and they have to stay healthy.
so i predict 14-2 or 15-1...and STILL lose in the playoffs!
GO COWBOYS!!

No USC already lost, so they won't be going anywhere. Oops. Sorry read that last answer and I thought for a second you were asking about USC.

As to the Pats, probably not. They certainly are good enough to do so, particularly in that awful division. However, there are 3 factors that make it unlikely.

First, this is the NFL. Parity is everywhere. Horrible teams rise up and beat good ones all the time. NE hasn't laid an egg yet, and chances are they will. They will have a 4 turnover game. They will play in a monsoon. Brady may get hurt. Things happen, and even the worst NFL teams can win if given a little break.

Second, they have to play the Colts. While the media darling Pats are getting all the headlines, the Colts are quietly disposing of everyone they play with, and doing so relatively easily. While the Pats are probably a favorite here, it isn't by much. Indy is certainly good enough to beat them.

Third, there is the worst killer of undefeated seasons -- resting players. Indy fell victim to this in the past, and it bites most teams in today's game that have a shot at 16-0. Once NE locks up homefield (which they will do before the last week if they beat Indy, and perhaps sooner), stars will be rested.
Undefeated is meaningless. Super Bowl champ isn't. You will see stars play, but only a half at most. With Brady on the bench NE can be beat easily. Couple that with the lack of focus and incentive inherently present once your team has accompllished everything it needs to in the regular season, and you have a recipe for a loss.

Although the Pats are great, there have been teams as dominant or more so in the last 25 years that fell short. There is no reason to think the Pats will buck that trend.

I like reg's answer for the daily darwin. The Colts are going to beat the Patriots twice in the regular season despite the fact they only play once. WOW. The Colts are good reg. The Yankees are going to win tonight to. Go study tennis reg, you dont know enough about football not to look stupid on a yahoo board, and that says a lot.

Seriously:
I'm a pats fan and I'd love to see them go undefeated but I just dont see that happening in this day and age. Lets take a possible senerio:

The Pats beat the colts and the colts dont lose another game all season. Even if that were to happen, at the last week the Patriots will have already clinched everything and wont play most of their starters. Against the Giants, they would have trouble. I just dont see 16-0 happening. But they will win on November 4th.

Answer: No.

Opinion: Possible loss to the Colts in a meaningfull game. If not to the Colts, then they will get to the end of the season and have to look at getting their starters rest and protection from injury before the playoffs. The Colts are playing in a much tougher division and have potential losses coming from division rivals like Jacksonville(4-1) or Houston. Therefore the Colts will probably go 12-2 or 13-1 by week 14. If the Patriots are 14-0 at that point and have homefield wrapped up, the starters will sit and the chances are a season ending loss will cause the champaign bottles to pop in Miami.

Barring injuries to key players, the Patriots have a good shot of going 19-0.

Yesterday they beat the Cowbows without their starting Tight End & without their 1st & 2nd string running backs. To be sure, the Pats won going away beating argueably the best team in the NFC.

The only game that could stand in the way of a Perfect season is November 4 @ Indianapolis. The Colts are still good, probably as good as last year - But - The Patriots made dramatic offseason improvements. The Pats had the lead and the ball with 3 minutes left in the AFC Championship game at Indy last year. But they Couldn't get one more 1st down and had to punt and the Pats Defense couldn't keep the Colts from Scoring the winning TD with one minute left.

This year the Pats are better than they were so the Game vs the Colts should be good and key injuries to either team will be the difference.

I am an Indy fan but it sure looks like the Pats will take it all this year. The amazing thing is Indy had to develop a semblance of a running attack to win the Super-Bowl. Now the Pats are doing what Peyton use to do and that is pass and pass some more. However, with the addition of Moss it doesn't look like they need to run the ball.

It's possible but no. They still have to play the Colts. Going undefeated is very hard.

The Colts will beat them twice in the regular season. If the Patriots get to the conference finals, the Colts will sweep them because the Colts will go all the way to the Superbowl for a back-to-back.

I doubt it. They still have some very tough games against the Colts, Steelers, and Ravens. Who knows, maybe even the Dolphins will beat them this week. I don't care that they're 0-6, there are no "gimmie" games in football.

They'll probably finish around 14-2.

I highly doubt it. If Brady gets hurt, their house of cards comes tumbling down. If one of the receivers goes down it will become more difficult to fly air Brady, specially if that receiver is Moss. The defense showed holes yesterday, it's possible they could lose in a shootout to another high power offense - Indianapolis.

I would love to see it, I just think it's not realistic.
