WHen I switch my oven to "oven" mode it doesnt heat up, the lights are on, the fan works and the grill works so any ideas whats up?

either the thermostat or the element

The element is blown, call an engineer if your not competent. cost of element depending on the make and model £35-£45 plus the engineers time

Mosty likely the element is open circuit. (burnt out) If the indicator light and fan is on then 100%.

That's an electrical problem, you'll need to get it fixed. The heating element has probably blown

Yes if it is one that you can set to come on when you are not there then it could well be set on automatic & perhaps the time is wrong because then it wouldn't work
