Sometimes it's necessary for politicians to lie in order to protect our safety. Not all lies are bad.

It's your fault they lie but, they don't really lie.
They just don't tell the truth.
The first one that tells the truth will have it used against him.
The ones that tell the truth never get elected so, we are asking for it.
Could they just do what they say they are going to do?
Well, we finnally got one of those in the form of George Bush. He said it, he did it, and he refuses to back off of it. That's what we all wanted and now we want him hung from the nearest tree. We will NEVER get another president who says what he does or does what he says, NEVER. None will ever run the risk of being treated like Bush was for the trouble.
We are a fickle lot. Politicians don't trust us with the truth.

Many politicians feel that they have to say what the voters want to hear in order to get elected. And when they are in office the do what they darn well please, while thinking of lame excuses to use for the next election.
Then, there are some, like myself, who think it is an awful lot of work to make up lies, and then remember which lies were told and to whom.
With me, what you see is what you get. And I will go in there with the attitude that I don't need to be re-elected. One term in the Senate, and I will be ready to draw what is left of my social security.

all you have to do is open up your eyes and check it out..
there is so much out there on the web that will tell you who is screwing whom in politics for anyone with the desire for the truth..
i never except what is said unless i know before hand what the deal is..
and if the issue is high enough of an item that demands attention then i will research it
republicans can duck and dodge the truth but the dems are the real masters of deception...

That's why we have brains- to look at the evidence, then decide. Watch actions and scrutinize past behavior and you'll discover what you need to know.
Don't buy in to popular rantings of anyone in here either!
And finally, allow some degree of slack for conditions that change, warranting a change in a leaders position
What else can we really do? THINK!

It's what naturally comes out of their mouths
We all make the mistake in thinking that it's is the job that makes the liar; ie. becoming a politician makes you lie.
It's the other way around, they are liars and it just so happens that we have a job for such people and therefore DING! Politician.

first, i'd tell you that not all politicians are lying scumbags... most would disagree... but, of course, i disagree with them.. secondly, i think most of the "lying" is more of deceit.. which is a form of lying..and this is never more prevelant than when someone is trying to get elected... but, it's kinda like this.... when you first start dating someone you really are into.. you don't come out and say.. " i like to sit at home and drink beer while watching desperate house wives"... no, you're gonna make yourself appealing to them and conveinently leave that part out until the relationship has a more solid foundation....

It is called "Job justification". This is how and elected official can become a "Career Politician". If he or she didn't promise everyone everything they could not continue there "career" as an elected official.

If they told the truth, they'd never be elected.
"I take money from lobbyists to pass bills intended to cheat the American tax payer out of billions of dollars"
Would you vote for someone like that?
