Fairly common. I find many people with the same last name in all parts of the USA.

It's not Smith or Brown but it's fairly common.
I had a weird maiden name that people messed up (although it was pronounced exactly like it was spelled and only had 5 letters) and thought I'd get past that when I got married but nope, people mess up the easy names too.

Mine is extremely uncommon. A few times I've encountered a stranger with the same last name, and it turns out we were actually related!!!
This has happened at least 3 times to me.

My last name is Johnson, which is not only common but people still mess it up as Johnston or Jones.
I still want to smack the guy in Top Gun for saying "so's my Johnson" and thereby saddling my surname with that anatomical term.

I have two last names. One is more common than anything and the other one is very uncommon. I was the only person with it back in high school. :)

No, yours is 48th most common in the US, 7th most popular in the UK.. Globally you're probably outnumbered by a few common Chinese and Indian surnames.. Thankfully I am one of just 3 people with my surname.
