I live in Kentucky, USA, and have never been there; my father, however, has been to Hamilton and Toronto, Ontario on business trips and spoke very highly of both cities.

-What are the provinces and cities like? I've heard Vancouver, Victoria, and Edmonton are some of the most beautiful cities on the continent, with low crime rates at that.

-Speaking of crime rates, what are the safest and most unsafe areas of the country? Where I live in Kentucky, the murder rate is roughly 2.35 murders per 100,000 people, so it's pretty safe.

-How about the people? The Canadians I've met have been mixed--some friendly, some rather condescending. Are they similar to folks here in the United States, a mixed bag?

-What are the best and worst things about Canada otherwise?

All helpful input is appreciated!

I live in Oshawa Ontario, which is 30 minutes away from Toronto,Canada is great.

What you will notice off the bat is how friendly Canadians are,and it's a very
multi cultural country.

Canadians are very similar to Americans, except our health care is free.

I love it! Only Ontario is like the states. The rest of the country is like Canada....awesome! I live in the murder capital of Canada...and I still feel very safe. Apparently the homocide rate has decreased by 10%. Canadians are generally really polite (especially in small towns), but there are also a lot of pricks. The best things about Canada...there are too many to list and the worst things...our justice and immigration systems, our PM likes Bush, racism and poverty are still problems, and weed is still illegal.
