If going for a racer, I'd go for a 'classic' name rather than a recent or current driver who may turn out to be more of a 'fad', or even an embarassment. Richard (Petty), Cale (Yarborough), etc.

Why do well-meaning, apparently normal parents insist on giving their new-born babies names which can be so embarrasing to young and adolescent children? Think of it from the child's point of view for heavens sake.

By the time a child named now reaches their teens, the world will have moved on thirteen years. Social attitudes can change enormously in that time and things which are fashionable now, are likely to be almost unheard of in thirteen years time.
