I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and living in China, I was just told today that the umbilical cord has wrapped around the baby's neck and I'm totally freaking out. I just lost my last baby at 36 weeks in April to the same thing. What can I do to either reverse it or survive this pregnancy without going mental. I can't lose this one too...I don't think I could stand losing two babies in one year. Where can I get some information about the umbilical cord wrapping around the neck...I need make sure that what they are doing for me is right. So far they have done nothing, and the last time they told me it was nothing to worry about. "It happens all the time and is no more dangerous then it wrapping around a arm or leg" is what they told me...2 days later my Violet was gone. Should I start looking into early delivery or is there other options. I just don't know what to do and I'm so afraid.

I am a US citizen who is just working in China, but I wouldn't be able to get out of my contract and come home for at least 2 months. As for a 2nd opinion, this is China and their medical standards are very very low. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and they have only done 2 ultrasounds and a pregnancy test on me so far...that's the extent of their medical care. I haven't even taken any blood, urine or pelvic exams- that is with both pregnancies here.

Ahh Sweetie, yes find another Doctor for a 2nd opinion. Early delivery may be an answer. I would think you may lose this one too...and that is a terrible thought. TRY THIS SITE....good luck...

I am so sorry about your situation.
Firstly if you can, get out of China. Are you from another country or actually a citizen?

I researched on the web that about 30% of pregnancies have the baby's cord around the neck. There are usually no complictations. I think you'll be okay. BTW, a baby at 20 weeks would be unable to live outside the womb.

I agree with the other answerers, find a new doctor, obviously this one does not know what they are talking about. Get a second opinion or if you are feeling like you are in a rush to take care of this, go to the ER. They will know what to do! Good luck and I truly hope that everything works out for you!

wow...i am so sorry for your loss...it is understandable that you would be freaking out, but i really don't know of anything that you can do unless your doctor is willing to discuss early delivery, but that will still be quite a while...i don't know if this will help, but my daughter was born with the cord wrapped around her neck...i asked my doctor how long it had been like that and he said for months...turns out they just didn't tell me...she is doing just fine now at three weeks old...so just because it happened with one doesn't mean it will happen with another, but i do understand your worries...i am a christian and i rely on my faith a lot to help me through trying times...i hope you have something like that to turn to as well, and you will be in my prayers...best of luck to you:)

confident yet you will no longer be attentive to it with out an extremely sound. till now contractions start up it does not pose a great number of a gamble. the matters ensue whilst the toddler starts off descending and by potential of then you definately will probable be being monitored. a minimum of the little ones heartbeat would be and that they're going to capture any problems then. My mom had 2 of her boys with the twine around their neck. the 1st basically as quickly as and he or she basically could no longer lay on her left area to hard paintings becasue it slowed his heartbeat. the 2nd wrapped it thrice around his neck and had it tied in a knot. the two have been born clearly yet they had to demonstrate screen the 2nd heavily - basically approximately did a C-area yet repositioned her and have been given the heart beat lower back up. Then whilst the pinnacle got here out they informed mom to offer up pushing so as that they might unwrap him till now bringing him out something of ways. (i be attentive to greater with regard to the 2d becasue i became into 17 and interior the room for his start)

I think you need to find another doctor. One who is willing to take action. Obviously you are high risk since you just lost a baby and now the same thing is happening to this one. Switch doctors and go from there. I wish the best for you.

I dont have any answers or advice for you other than I think you should find a new doctor and get a second opinion. Its not worth trusting 1 persons opinion..... get a 2nd or even 3rd opinion..... your baby is worth it!!
