There are reasons both for and against circumcision so it's really up to the parents to sift through the information and decide from there.

So it's good you have a website devoted to publishing one side of the debate.

We had our little boy circumcised just a couple weeks ago. I don't regret it, but I do suggest not being in the room while it is happening. It broke my heart to have my week old little boy screaming. The Dr. said it was because of being strapped down, which I agree with, but it still makes you want to pick them up and hit whoever is trying to make them cry. A website is a good idea, but I feel that it is the parents personal choice and neither oppinion should be shoved down the opposing sides throat. As long as its meant to inform and advise, it's a great idea. I let my hubby decide to circumcise or not. It is something he has a little more personal knowledge of being a guy and all. I did put my 2cents in but it was ultimitly his decision.

Hi mommies...

I am going to be a Boy-mom any time soon.. and we are not circumcising. However we were really surprised to hear at our labour classes that the nurse/instructer flat out tell moms it's not a good idea. I dont come from a religion that request (or would I choose it for my own son), but I understand the value of following a belief system. A lot of people seem to believe now its unethical.

I used to be completely AGAINST circumcision simply because they didn't use any type of anesthesia and the process takes like 5 to 15 minutes to perform. That has to be pure torture on that poor little baby. Who cares if the baby forgets about it. They still feel every bit of it.
But my daughter is 15w 1d pregnant and her nurse told us that they now completely numb the little penis. Thank the Lord. I was actually hoping that she would have a girl because the baby's father is set on circumcision even without anesthesia. But now it doesn't matter to me (since I know they use anesthesia) what they have as long as it's healthy.

Choose what you wish, but don't fool yourself into thinking it's a pain free procedure for your baby. Even when they numb the penis - that involves an injection of lidocaine - which burns tremendously, just as painful as them cutting the foreskin itself. And the healing, which can take weeks, leaves baby sore too.

Good luck whatever your decision is.
