This question has been asked many times, but in order to solve the problem we need to go back to the roots. Where the cycle began.
I think it's safe to say it all started in slavery.
So I want to know, how will and can we rise up and over come?
A friend of mine (Anthony Browder) once gave me a solution I want to hear what you have to say.

Everyone is saying Slavery is played out.
Look at the effects.
Slavery, wether is is played out or not, has put this vicious cycle into play.
It's effects are still here!
They took the chains off physically and put them on mentally. We are still an enslaved people. Some are liberated but what of the vase majority in America? Leave them to the system?
Every man for himself is not how it should be, me mine and ours should be every man not just you and yours.
I know the truth hurts and alot of you don't want to see it.
A blind man can't see the truth.

I am not using Slavery as an excuse, it's a starting point (even though as a race it goes further than that)
My solution is simple.
Blacks need to stop using racism and such as excuses as to why we can't achieve. We need to start bluiding apon our own societies our own corporations and companies. Also white america still has it's Anglo-Saxon mind set. They need to be stripped of it, all races need to be stripped of their racial mind set. There is only one race, the human race.

Yes, if one, we keep the money in house and stop selling out. Two, create our own diverse jobs, which will then lead to other sources.
I'm telling you with the way jobs are disappearing in the US to go across seas...we could really make a demand for jobs. We could be successful in a year or two, but what's holding us back? Well, because some Blacks are steady worrying about some White man, "living to appease white people". Stop it! Get your foot in the door, make the money, invest, start your own business, and prosper! We will support you, but you have to jump in! The time is now!
---
This will help create equality amongst Black communities and it will help decrease the drug traffic in our communities because Blacks will feel a sense of belonging...
Yes, Bill Cosby is right...stop worrying about the Whites. Ugh! Take care of home first.

Sad to say even in today's society, we still have black/white/hispanic segregation. I live in the south and have heard people STILL differentiate people simply by color or nationality. I am appalled.
Our nation has so much further to go. I don't feel the "people'' of color or different races have as far to go as the white bred American people do.
Some cities are better than others in dealing with the issue of racism. As our nation becomes MORE blended, it is my hope our young people will be the ones to RISE UP and overcome the past and actions of our people; as a nation.
We are trying to teach our children the idea of ACCEPTANCE. We are ALL people and we all deserve the same opportunities and freedoms, regardless of race, ethnicity or religion.

Vtjames is correct. Just buy Bill Cosby's new book called Come on People. It outlines the causes of oppresion to black people and it gives real solutions to the growing problem. His solutions are the best I've ever read. He has better solutions than any politician or preacher that I have ever heard.

I wasnt around in the times of slavery but if I had been I would've been helping the African Americans gain freedom. Times have changed and yes it's still a time where Black people get blamed and get the short end of everything.
Rise up.......... They need to educate and offer assistance to the youths that want to go to college and make it easier for them to obtain thier dreams. We, as a people, need to change the mentality of the human race where thinking that one color is better than the other. God created us equal, it's just harder for some to come to terms with that.

Huh? I'm not sure I understand your question because the African Americans have risen up for some time. Look at all the African-American athletes, actors/actresses, and singers. We even have a presidential candidate now. Why do you think they haven't done so in the first place?
Just because you see some poor ones around your neighborhood, that doesn't mean all of them are like that. Poverty happens to all races, including Whites, Asians, Middle Easterns, etc.

i do no longer think of that this is unfavourable yet I do have faith that this is regressive. issues have replaced plenty because of the fact the days the place maximum Black families have been working type those with reliable morals and a time table to flow to church each and every Sunday. each and every race has its down fall or maybe however alot of Black human beings are unsuccessful in each and every way, alot of Black human beings are progressing and examining onward and such.

No. But they must first think like the rest of the world. Forget that they are African Americans and think that they a citizen of the world. That way they can compete without complaining of racism if they don't get preferences. Everybody should be on an even keel when it comes to getting jobs and monetary payments for work done.

All they have to do is listen to people like Bill Cosby instead of Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton. Take responsibility for ones actions rather than always blaming it on other people or circumstances and bam things start going the right way. And stop having damn kids out of wedlock.

Why don't you be the change? And ignorance is easy, that's why so many of us continue to glorify the wrong things. That's not to say that there isn't a large segment of African American society that is and has overcome, but you rarely see these people.
