Some counties have a lot of information online. Others don't. It is really hit or miss. If it's one of the online ones, you'll find it in minutes. Otherwise you will have to go to the County Clerk's Office and look it up!!

Good luck!

First you must know what county the property is in. Then go to the county clerk's office. Have as much information about the property as possible. Deed holder's name, property address, approximate date ownership took place. Office staff should be able to help you find where the information can be found, but you may have to do the actual finding yourself. In New York, info is usually listed by Liber (book volume) and page, and can be either the book itself or stored on microfilm.
