I waterskiied from age 11 to 40. I snow skiied for a couple of years in the early 70's. It wasn't my thing. I quit before I ran into a tree.

Not skiing, hate snow, hate the cold. It's an expensive sport with all the winter clothes and snow gear you have to have, not to mention the costs of the lift tickets. Then if you have to travel to get there it's the gas and hotel stay and food expenses.
People are snow boarding now, rather than skiing. They even have Sand skiing now.
Love water skiing tho. But don't have a boat, or driver, so that is out.

I'm a former skier. Now I snowboard. It's easier to learn (although at first, the falls hurt more), and I find it more enjoyable.
I live in the mountains near a resort and there's always a 'battle' going on between the skiers and the boarders. I stay out of it. I just like to ride my board and cruise along the intermediate slopes.
I think I'm usually the oldest (female) snowboarder on the mountain but that's ok. It's all in good fun.

Used to ski a lot, but with age, have left this one in the past. I can't afford the down time should something break. When I took a bad tumble on my cycle, I realized that too many others depended upon me for their livlihoods, I just can't take the chances now that I used to take. True, it really impedes the fun in life, but also true that it greatly reduces the risks others would be at were I to be my reckless self. Love and peace, Goldwing

I had never snow skiied and took lessons a couple years ago while visiting a friend in Colorado. I fell alot, and it was hard pulling myself up with the poles, but it was still lots of fun!!

Too much of a scaredy cat....LOL...thankfully my ex taught my kids to ski and all are agile, skillful skiers. I ? - you can find me in the kitchen of the Aframe rental cooking with a roaring fire in the fireplace awaiting the return of the skiers! :-)

I think it is fun. Scared of heights so lift chairs make me nervous. Stayed on bunny hill. MY mom went too and she was in her late 60's. Took a leason and that was a big help.
