Hi, i've found a solution to this here: http://www.gromkov.com/faq/faq2004-0063.html

I have a Matshita DVD RAM UJ-850S ATA Device as DVD ROM.

If I do method one listed on the site above (which applies to a disk by disk basis, will I permanently change it to region 1?

Thanks!

I suspect it will remove the region coding and not simply change the region of the drive if you get one of the programs they link to though I'm not actually sure as I haven't used them. I don't have to put up with UOPs though.

You can change region settings for 5 times, under XP.

As long as you do not change it, the new region you slected will remain.
