We have lived in our house for over 3years. Well a family recently moved in next door to us. They have been relatively friendly and we have not had any problems. Yesterday I come home and find the husband in my back yard that is fenced with a gate. He had cut a huge limb out of my tree that was supposedly hanging over his garage. My question is this? Is he responsible for cleaning up the mess or am I? He cut it down, let it fall and left. I am quite mad about it. But my husband does'nt want to start anything with them. Also and I know this is minor but the last time the guy sprayed he also decided to spray a little he had left around our yard. Am I overeacting or not. Because I think he's being presumtuous and pushy. So please give me advice on this.

Just clean it up and let it go this time but contact your local city office to find out the regulations on this type of thing for next time. Sounds to me like this won't be the last problem you will have with this guy.

You don't need to go to war with the neighbors, well technically, if the limb is hanging over into his yard it's his problem not yours but he should have never came into your yard to cut it down. That's trespassing. He should have stayed in his yard or just asked you and your husband if could do something about that limb instead of taking matters into his own hands. Or you could just put a lock on the gate and keep your tree trimmed so he doesn't take it upon himself to trim it.

It just isn't worth having your neighbors as enemy's.But he still has no right to be in your yard without your knowledge. Just clean it up and let it go. i wish you luck

If you don't want to start problems with the neighbors maybe it would be best to clean it up yourself but you need to say something to them or else they're just going to to stuff like that to you the whole time they live there. Which will turn into a HUGE fight and then you'll end up hating eachother.

I think it may be yours since the tree is on your propertly line. I think he still should have asked or given you the oppurtunity to fix the problem. He still has no right to be in your yard though.
I would just clean it up and let it go. Or maybe next time you see him just say something casual about it. "I don't appreicate you coming in my yard without my permission, if you had a problem you should have come to us". Good luck

Those things happen and unfortunately they are not easy to deal with. I would recommend not to make a big deal about it.
