#1 rated defense giving up 41 points to Kentucky? Come on. Are we serious? Yes, Kentucky has a high powered offense when they play Louisville, Kent St, or FAU, but if LSU (had) the #1 defense in the country they could have kept Kentucky to under 30 points, ATLEAST! Right?
Your thought/opinions.

** UFwalk07- I'm the most UNbiased person there is. I look at it from no bias views at all. I could care less who plays for the NC. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara. I call it like I see it. If you say LSU was the #1 team in the country, you are BIASED! Not I. You obviously are looking at it through SEC eyes. Auburn came into the Swamp and ripped out UF's heart. Then UF goes to Baton Rouge and almst beats the #1 team? To me a #1 team is head and shoulders above EVERYBODY! That's a #1 team, not a team that is down at halftime to Tulane. That's all I'm saying.

Let me straighten something out right quick. Because I keep hearing the same thing from a lot of you about 3 overtimes.... "IF" you have the #1 defense, you shouldn't be in OVERTIME against Kentucky anyway!(did anyone see the UK-USC game!?) Let's just say from some reason you have to go into overtime against an average team at best in Kentucky. If they get the ball 1st, hold them to a fieldgoal, get your offense on the field, and score a touchdown. If you get the ball first, score a touchdown, hold them to 4 and out.
That would be a #1 defense, yes?

The SEC is NOT deep, and they're doing a pretty darn good job in proving that themselves!! Auburn beats UF, Miss St beats Auburn, UF beats Tennessee, Tennessee beats Miss St. Miss St loses to South Carolina and Tennessee. South Carolina beats Kentucky, Kentucky beats LSU.
The SEC is average at best, no team/teams is/are head and shoulders above the other.

An opinion is not a biased decision! What does the "shift" key have to do with being biased? Me doing THIS is simply a way to make a point.
Are you still with me or do I need to slow down? You make the call.
Me saying LSU is overrated isn't a biased statement. I wanted to see LSU and USC play from the very beginning. Now both team fell, USC being overrated as well. Is that a biased statement, too? Wait, wait. USC IS OVERRATED!! Now, it has to be a biased statement, right?
OUT.

I don't think they are overrated, just over hyped. I saw in the UF-LSU game that LSU's defense wasn't as good as advertised. I didn't see LSU going to Lexington and going into overtime. That was a huge shocker. But LSU isn't overrated. I don't think they're the #1 team in the country though. I thought UF played better and had a better team, they just ran out of gas in the 4th quarter with their young team.
There definitely needs to be a playoff system, no doubt about it. Teams now are so close, it's hard to pick a clear cut #1,#2, and so on. There needs to be something to decide the games on the field and not on paper. Plain and simple.

You have to be kidding! 41 points is easy to score when you play 3 overtimes. Check the score from the four quaters of regular play. As far as everyone saying Florida and Kentucky moved the ball on them. Have you seen the quaterbacks for these teams? Obviously not. Tebow and Woodson are probaly the two best quaterbacks in the nation. And while I'm not a LSU fan, I do not think they are overrated. Everyone who thinks they are have never sat down and watch a full season of SEC football. I can't believe yall didn't figure that out last year when Florida played Ohio St. Go watch something else besides Michigan, Ohio St., N.D., and USC. Maybe you'll see that there is better talent elsewhere.

They're definitely not unbeatable, but overrated? Not exactly. First, let me say that Kentucky and Florida are good teams. "Great teams" is more like it. The SEC is a deep conference, with at least 3 teams vying for a chance at the conference title. Any team going undefeated would be remarkable. Now, that being said, the supposed #1 defense should, as you said, not have given Kentucky a chance. They should have shut them down on the most important plays and they couldn't. So, I agree that they aren't the defensive juggernaut people made them out to be, but they are still a dangerous team.

I am an LSU fan and I agree that the defense hasn't lived up to the hype. Your thoughts are a little muddled though in that it was a three overtime period. Points come a little easier in overtime especially with the loss of a starting corner. However, the matchup against Kemntucky was just another classic SEC contest. Kentucky really got up for LSU and played great defense. What is going to p*ss me off though is if they go to Florida and lose that game. Just another week in the SEC.

Well, they did keep them under 30 points (27 in 60 minutes). But anything can happen once time runs out and that ball is placed on the 25 (16 points in 3 overtimes).

Note: Kentucky scored 43, two more than what you put down.

Hell, their ALL over-rated! Obviously the best team in the SEC has yet to show itself, KY defeats LSU but loses to SC, SC beat KY but lost to LSU, Auburn beats UF but loses to MS. The media runs the polls with their fictitious 'hype' on what they perceive as the better teams. Haven't you also wondered how the AP or USA polls can be so similar in rankings? There is no way two different polls can be so close so early in the season and it happens every year. By the way, was this #1 LSU defeated by #8 UK, or #5 LSU defeated by #17 UK? Polls suck.

Wrong sir, like my man up top said, the SEC is a very deep conference and if you take any team out of that conference and put them in any other conference in the nation then they would either win it or be very good contenders to win it, you can't say that about any other conference..... Now what happened with LSU was bad, yes they gave up 41 points to kentucky, but that just proves how good Andre Woodson is, and then they come in and play the best quarterback in the nation after playing a florida team that has so many skill players its not even funny, maybe you think they can't beat the teams that are ranked ahead of them, which they can... it's not like they lost to a 41 point underdog... i just would like to say that the sec is a good conference and you never know whats going to happen when those teams play each other, and hey it's not like they gave up and were blown out they went to 3ot's and fought every down and it was a well played game by both teams....

I agree, but the opinions on this question will probably depend on how people view that loss. I see it as proof that they were overrated, but a lot of SEC fans view it as proof that their conference is very deep.

Personally, I don't see any team in any conference right now that jumps out at me as the best in the country. I think the rankings are correct right now, but even Ohio State, BC, and USF all strike me as teams that could be beaten by many of the other top-10 teams. We just don't seem to have that one, dominant team this time around.

You got somebody else in mind that should be rated higher? USC, CAL, Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan, Nebraska, etc?? LSU looked bad against Kentucky and their defense had a terrible game. If you play in the SEC and you don't bring your "A" game every week, you can expect to get beat. Did they get beat by the likes of Appalachian St, Stanford or Oregon St? No. They got beat by a highly ranked, 1 loss team, on the road, in triple overtime. LSU = Overrated, that is just plain retarded.

YOU=BIASED

LSU went up against a great offense two weeks in a row. Their defense was exposed a bit, but don't kid yourself. Their defense could stop almost any team in college football... including Ohio State.

EDIT: And to me, you are yelling, and therefore biased. The Caps Lock key does not like you punching it so much. Show some love. You asked two questions within 10 minutes of each other about LSU being overrated... but no, you're not biased. As for your come back "I'm not biased, you are!" First of all... good one... Second, I think if you read most of my posts, you'll see that I'm not. Why, just a few minutes before you asked this question, I asked one about a playoff system, and gave due respect to the PAC-10 and the Big East. Biased. Ha. Thanks for the laugh.
