Granted every team steals signals, stealing signals is NOT against the rules BUT video taping the other teams sideline to steal signals IS against the rules and it is CHEATING. So why would someone say that if you call the Patriots cheaters your not a real football fan?

Probably because they are a Pats supporter. The Patriots are cheaters and were caught. A $500,000 fine is not for making a mistake. I'm a real football fan, love salary caps, and think its great that Vick had to give his signing bonus back, but Brady and the coach were cheating.

Real football fans will call a spade a spade. The Patriots were caught cheating and they got slapped pretty hard. We will never know the level and extent of how the cheating helped and if it helped them win championships. We will just NEVER know. The NFL and the Patriots want this black mark to go away and in time fans will forget but the history of the NFL and the Patriots will be forever linked to this scandal.

If the evidence shows that the Patriots had only been using the films for the past few years and were NOT using it during their 3 Super Bowl runs then I think the NFL would release this info to help clean up the mess. This still may happen but if the evidence shows the Patriots had employed this method of cheating for several years including those year in which they won Super Bowls then the NFL will likely never release the details. Conspiracy theorist be damned.

The TEAM was cheating, not just the Coach(and QB if that whole thing about how their Communications device work AFTER it is supposed to be shut off). The OFFENSE knew what the defense was doing. That is CHEATING BY THE TEAM. Do you really think the routes weren't called a specific way? Do you think the coach DIDN'T use that information for the TEAM'S benefit. So yeah the TEAM cheated. Oh and if you want to know of Defenders that cheated, well shall we bring up the man who was suspended the first four games for HGH? Espically bringing it up since they can't detect HGH and only caught him because a sting that busted an internet pharmacy that he was using? I am not going to "sit back and admire" a "great" team when I don't know if it is REALLY a great team, or is it Belicheat(who has a history of cheating from his time in Cleveland as well) and his tapes that we KNOW he remembers the key details to.

It's probably just an act of frustration due to all the "cheaters" talk that has been going around. Belichick cheated - there's no question about that. However, it gets ridiculous when people claim that they Pats' championships are now all tainted because of the cheating. They're far from the only team to have tried to gain an advantage in that way, and all the cheating in the world wouldn't help without the talent to win.

I think everyone on both sides is just tired of the argument. There's a middle ground - they cheated, but that's not the main reason for their winning - but both sides are too firmly entrenched to move towards any kind of agreement.

Every team cheats. Every team has players that deliberately break the rules and hope they don't get caught. Cheating, sadly, is part of all sports.

The degree to which a player or team cheats, but if you say a little cheating is okay, you're just a hypocrite.

@ JonBoy that was one of the stupidest comments ever...

Now onto the question at hand, the Patriots did something against the rules and they deserve a larger penalty then what they got.

And no one has ever told me i wasn't a real football fan just because i said the Patriots are cheaters.

It wasn't the TEAM that cheated, and I wish people would start realizing that. The players themselves are getting a bad wrap for something they didn't even do.

The Patriots (regardless of their recent inccident) have kicked @#$ every game so far...how can anyone continue to talk???

You aren't a real football fan if you can't sit back and appreciate a good team. They are undefeated so far. And I'm pretty sure they haven't been "cheating" to do so...

A lot of teams were doing it but the Patriots got caught. Things happen so fast in a game stealing signs doesn't really help all that much. You don't have to like the Patriots but don't take anything away from them. Their proving right now that it didn't really matter anyway.
