VERY good point! He has caused much more global pollution than the average family ever will.
He SHOULD give it back, but he won't of course.

I'm so tired of the "flying in his jet plane" lame criticism of a great man that has raised the awareness of countless people about how much we're screwing up this planet. The ones that insult the loudest are probably gassing up their Hummers right now. Here's a man that got screwed out of the presidency by heinous brown shirt tactics and instead of being bitter he does something good for mankind. A lot of thanks he gets from the ingrates. Do you really think that the people that award the Nobel are stupid? I for one am glad there are people like Al Gore left in the world. They are becoming a rare commodity. No doubt George Bush is your hero after having squandered a trillion dollars down a rat hole in a desert halfway across the world.

First of all, that is the stupidest thing I have heard in some time, I hope you don't believe that.
Secondly, the rest of the world is marching on with cleaner industries, and this cutting back on emissions that you are so afraid of is not a bad idea. At this point, the big losers are the small American companies with great ideas for cleaner more efficient technology, if congress was to give tax breaks to these type of companies you would have all types of new small companies employing more people and helping the economy.
Look this up, back when the automobile was just coming into its own, Americans were screaming that the internal combustion engine would be the downfall of the American economy, because there were so many jobs related to the equine industry. I thing things ended up okay, yes there are less farriers and blacksmiths now, but new industries replaced the old ones or the old ones adapted. Thats the same thing we have now, people are afraid changing emission standards is going to hurt, but new companies and new ways of doing things always end up helping the economy.

Wow...now ther's some convoluted logic. Let's say Al 'gave back his prize....along with all the scientists with whom he shared that particular award. (I believe there were several dozen.) The issued raised would still remain. Climate change is real. It will effect billlions of people. It can be modified to reduce that effect. There are people and organizations that for whatever reason are opposed to doing anything. These folks are far more of a problem than Al Gore's sins of commision or ommision. You should admonish them as well. Your question is actually just another ditto-head type insult thrown at Gore because you heard it on one of the right wing talk shows and you couldn't wait to repeat it. Al Gore hasn't pointed his finger at the 'average American' as much as alerted the 'average American' to a slowly building danger of atmosphic pollution. Nobody on the 'conservative' side has raised the issue....advantage, Gore. Smack Al up side of the head and then start writing letters to your congress critter telling it to get on the stick and start dealing realistically with this problem. I'm sure Al will eventually get the message....I'm doubtful that anyone associated with the Bush Junta will!

A meaningless award having been given to murderers in the past. Might as well concoct an award for the one who can spin the most lies and create the most pandemonium.

Al should not have won the Nobel Peace Prize and I think the fact that he DID diminishes that award for future recipients.
He SHOULD give it back but he won't.
Alfred Nobel felt horrible about the uses to which his invention -- dynamite -- was put. So he endowed the Nobel Peace Prize and instructed that it go "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."
DOES HE DESERVE THE PEACE PRIZE?
Al Gore has done exactly none of those things.
