Soooo my roommate has a stinky poor smelly dog, that i'm allergic to. He lives in the basement apt with my roomie. The dog now has an infection where his entire right side of his head is swollen, looks like elephantitus, but it's really, just swollen due to infection.

He won't take it to the vet. The poor baby is 10 years old and 115 lbs, and won't even come up the steps for me, so I don't know how to get it to the vet, but I'm afraid he's going to die. I'm also afraid if I take him, (i'll have to do it behind my roomie's back), they'll put him to sleep which is SO NOT my business. What do you think i should do?

Sounds like you really do not want to get involved and need someone to say it is okay? See, if there is another Friend to help you out to take it to the vet, that way, you got help on someone else sharing the blame on what ever happens and help explaining everything to your roommate. But the poor dog needs to go to the vet.

If its just your name on the lease, threaten him even if youd never go through with the threat, of making him move out.

Although if you did take the dog on your own, it would be your choice to have the dog put down. You could always tell the vet no, take the dog back home and give all the details to your roomie.

Hit me up if you need a new roomie.

Some vets will still make house calls in extreme cases...Call and tell them the situation. If they can't do it, it seems harsh but maybe you should consider calling the humane society, they will often times help people out with care for their dogs. Also is the dog unable to come up the stairs or is he just refusing to come up for you?If he's unable you really need to get immediate attention for the dog, that's not any way to live and if he's pottying in the house that is even more signs of neglect.Do the right thing for the dog.Call someone.

They cant put a dog down without your permission (or your roomies) so u might as well take the poor thing to the vet, see if you can get some meds for it!!! Good luck to you and the dog!

i agree with the first answerer. consult a vet and ask for their advice or what they think the problem may be. then i'd talk with your roommate and suggest that he needs to do something about this dog because you can't appreciate him living in your house with the dog in that condition. use the power of persuasion. even offer to make an appointment at the vet.

That's so sad. I personally would take it to the vet. You really need to talk to your roomie. I think it's rather cruel to let the dog live like that.

115 pounds?? You need to have a long talk with your roomate if she does not want to take dog to vet, sometimes the vet makes housecalls... She needs to put her feelings on the back burner and do what is best for her dog... No matter how hard it is

sit down and tell your roommate to help you get the dog into the car and to the vet before he dies. tell him that the dog is suffering and is in pain and that it needs to be taken now so maybe they can help it but that you think if you wait any long that its going to die and that you dont want that. if that doesnt work then call the vet

I sure would push the issue with the roommate. If money is the issue, vets take payments. This is an animal cruelty issue. Hope you can make him see the light.

The best thing to do, for the sake of this poor animal, is to call the animal rescue people in your area.

This is abuse and that poor dog sounds like he is in alot of pain....he's getting old too.

I'd rather risk having him put down, rather than let him suffer this way.

You have a good heart, because you actually care. xo
