I'm planning my honeymoon for the next year and want to know what the weather is like in the first 2 weeks of October in both Sri Lanka and Maldives.

It looks like there can be quite a bit of rainfall, wondered if anyone that has been could tell me if this is mainly short afternoon storms ?

Sri Lanka is my home. The rainy season is on at the moment but it rains at night not often during the day time. It's always hot. Don't miss the experience of Sri Lanka, tourist areas are Galle and along the south west coast or Negombo just a short drive from the airport. Negombo is ok. Unfortunately Sri Lanka has not seen many tourists for quite a while now although bad for the economy tourists are needed all year round.
The island is beautiful, people friendly, cheap shopping and the culture is amazing. Kandy in the centre of the island is not to be missed, the Kandy dancers and the Temple of the Tooth. There is also the elephant orphanage and the turtle sanctuary don't miss them.
Enjoy your honeymoon, have a wonderful time where ever you decide to go.

Yes, these are short afternoon storms that pass quickly -- then the sun comes out again.

While the rain comes down, to me it is exciting just to sit on the porch and watch the spectacle.

If you go to Sri Lanka many of the hotels are near the Kandy which is a 4 hour drive. In the Maldives you take a speedboat or seaplane to your resort.

Enjoy the Maldives or Sri Lanka.

I've been to both of those places and the weather was great. I was in Sri Lanka in October a few years ago for a few weeks and i really can't remember it raining once.

Sri Lanka would be cooler than it relatively is on the different time of the year, October is slap contained in the direction of the wet season regardless of the incontrovertible fact that it commonly rains at night and dry for the period of the day time. in case you like very, fairly heat & sunlight pass to between the top of December by using to mid could it is the dry season and it relatively is warm & sticky. you may desire to pass to it relatively is relatively worth it one among those beautiful island so diverse.

Warm (hot) and sunny. By October the typhoon season should be over. Enjoy...I've been to the Maldives...it's awesome!

As they are both quite near the Equator, there is not much seasonal change. Tropical areas (such as these) are prone to short, heavy storms. Why don't you try asking your travel agent for guidance?

And don't forget your jabs!
