My answer would have to be yes, no and maybe.
I like some perfumes, sometimes, on some women.
Sometimes they are pleasant to smell, and sometimes they are very far from it, even if it is the most expensive perfume.
A reality is that some women should never wear perfume. I do not know why, but no matter how much it costs, it smells terrible on them.
Too many women overuse it and will not believe they are doing it, even when told. I try to be polite and excuse myself, and then move as far away from them as possible.
My body reacts to strong smells and gives me headaches, so if I were picking up someone for a date, and her perfume was overpowering, I would have to say so right away.
Because of this, I tend to be pro-active and speak of perfumes beforehand.
I think for most men, perfume is appreciated when it is used very lightly, as a subtle enhancement of her own body fragrance. Then it adds a soft nuance that pleases the wearer as well as the one she is with and it has a positive effect on the mood of both people.

Fun thing with perfume is that what smells good on one person will smell completely different on another. And what smells appealing to one person, will nauseate another.
For example, my natural body chemistry is too sweet to wear most womens perfumes (anything from bath and body is out of the question). I traditionally wear a mens cologne, or very mild (expensive!) womens fragrence.
The key to wearing perfume though, is moderation! You dont need to spray yourself 4 times and roll around in it. You just need to spray once - torso level and walk into the cloud. Subtle! As for cotton candy scent... its very immature, and child like. Most people dont take women who wear cotton candy body spray seriously. But... its a start. Maybe when you're done with that, try a nice vanillia or something of that sort.

I like a light vanilla scent (or similar) as long as it's not too sweet or too strong. I'm allergic to many floral scents so I would obviously prefer she didn't wear those.
