So now she throws all her food off her highchair.

She is ten months, nearly eleven and since solids started at 29 weeks, hasn't ever used a spoon to eat, just feeds herself table food with her fingers. Only now she's learned to throw she throws her food onto the floor! For fun!

She doesn't seem hungry and like I say I've never fed her or forced her to eat, but she's wasting a lot of food! I can't afford for her to be throwing strips of chicken, avocado etc, on the floor for the dog!!!

Any ideas as to how I can get her back to eating what I give her? She is still having 4-5 milk feeds a day so won't be lacking nutrition. Thanks.

Its fun to see your reaction to it and its fun to see the dog eat what she has just thrown on the floor for it. I would suggest trying not to make a big deal out of it, try not to react in other words and try putting the dog out of the room when she is eating, that way if she does throw her food on the floor for the dog she will soon learn that the dog wont come to eat it (because it cant get to it) and it will become less fun for her, hopefully making her stop throwing her food down there for it. Other than that its just a waiting game, she will grow out of it eventually.

Hope this helps x

I would say meal time is over as soon as she starts throwing food. Sounds like she just wants to play. Give her some toys to play with instead if you still want her to sit in the high chair. Otherwise, take her down and let her play. If she's hungry, she'll let you know.

Pretty much all babies do it. It is great fun. Try giving her less at a time, means less to waste. The dog enjoys it, she enjoys it, just a passage of time in her little life.

feed her yourself them stop being lazy. give her a few pieces to hold and play with and you spoon feed her the rest. you need to start being the adult her and parent this child. children have to be taught. change your behavior now before it gets worse this should never have been started
