i know the answer since my name is shaveta sundram. but friend and me are having a bet. so be accurate.also tell to which caste they belong to.

SUNDARAM - is a name and not a surname. Sundaram usually used in south India, especially in Tamilnadu as Name. Hindi equivalent is SUNDAR. It is a name given for male, meaning beautiful. Since there is no surname applicable for Tamilians they use either their father's name or husband's name as second name. So your father or husband's name is Sunder - Right !-

In general the name "Sundram " used by the people from Tamil Nadu. It does not represent any cast or race. Its only a NAME . Even you can see some of Telugu people also using.

From Andhra Pradesh - India & they may be belonging to Brahmin Caste.
