Some politicians actually respond to the letters of their constituents but most of them let their staff answer the letters.

Only familiar with politicians in the U.S. --- they just send a self-congratulatory form letter indicating that the letter was received.

It depends, if it is convertible into many votes then a politician will readily answer back but if not then they won't because these people are vote conscious not service oriented.

As if! They get paid and get their lerks and perks.
They couldnt care less what anyone has to say until election time rolls around.
They just use your tax dollars to pay someone else to respond.
