London is a diverse place, wherein you can fit in at ease.Depending on your budget and the family size, you can stay in hotels or in B&B. If you stay around Baker Street, you can walk to Madame Tussauds(Wax Museum), Regents Park, Sherlock Museum. Main places like London Eye, Big Ben, Aquarium are easily reachable by 20 mts in Tube.

Baker Street is well connected by buses and tube and also have good places to eat. Oxford Street is walking distance for shopping.Trafalgar Square, National Art Gallery, Buckingham palace, Queens Gallery, V&A Museum, Science, History Museums are all within a short distance by bus/tube.

I would say if you start a day, see the Big Ben,walk along the Thames and take a river cruise to Tower Bridge / Greenwich and on the end visit London Eye during the sunset. The choices are endless and you can explore leisurely in a week. I recommend you should have a visit to theatre too. London has good information on tubes/buses and you wont be lost.
Watch your belongings all the way! Enjoy your holiday.

Recently spent 3 days in London, stayed just off Trafalgar Square. Tuesday night went to see Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre, very good. Wednesday, went around buckingham palace, great, from there we did an open bus tour, this is a must, you can hop on and off to places you want to see, us, we hopped off at Parliment, did a tour of that together with the house of Lords, went on from there to St. Pauls Cathedral, absolutely fabulous, then onto a short boat trip up the Thames, different perspective of the City, and finally, at 8:30 pm, did a ride on the London eye, fabulous views, such a full day. On Thursday went around Westminster Abbey, wow!, what a place, most of our history is buried there, finally another short journey on the open bus. We had a great time and we will certainly be going back.

There are lots of places to visit in London and it doesnt have to cost alot, I dont live far from London but if i take the kids there which are 5 and 8 I usually take them to the Natural History museum (free) get on the tube to Leicester square ( they love a ride on the tube) go to kentuckey fried chicken and then walk down to Trafalger square to the fountains, its great on a nice day, I know its not alot but the kids just love it, it must be all the hustle and bustle of the city, its also easy to walk from 1 place to the next. We took the long walk from Trafalger square to Buckingham Palace, but the kids loved it when we got there, they are always saying when can we go again. You should look up sightseeing in London. Also Bella Italia is a great place to eat, lovely food and child friendly too.

Theres an advert on at the moment for 2 for 1 ideas. There are loads of museums (natural history, science, V&A) check their websites for special exhibitions. The London eye, aquarium, London dungeon, tower of London, the zoo, madame tussards, planetarium etc. Have fun!

Ohh I'm off down there next week! Covent Garden is nice, with good food places and entertainment for the kids.

We are also going to Greenwich which is good. And a visit to Hamleys is a MUST.

i work in central london and it depends on what your after,
if you want hussle and bussle then aim for picadilly and covent garden to stay but i speak from experience when i say their are masses of b+b's in victoria area, its off the main mass of people (good for keeping hold of the kids in a quieter area) and in easy range of the bus teminus in victoria with links to edgware road to piccadily circus,
try searching areas like Belgrave Road and Pimlico can't move for choice as well!!!
as well as that if you do choose Pimlico be sure to visit Cypus Mangal Kebab restaurant, its the best place for authentic food, bit dearer but WELL worth it!!!!

I desire i might desire to come! As you the two are SO into HP, it sounds thoroughly ideal. I rather ADORE the belief, yet many (extremely mothers and dads, with their pesky "classic" techniques) won't. circulate with what the two one in all YOU (the two quite GETTING married) prefer, and don't enable all and sundry rob you of this astounding dream-come-actual. the only advice I even have is to incorporate crystal balls and many candles on your table decorations.
