It depends how big the steps are.
If you're counting "1,2,3,4, .... ,infinity" it'll take forever.
If you're counting "1, 1000000, 2000000, ... ,infinity" it'll take forever.
If you're counting "1, infinity" it'll take a second or two.

It could be argued that you cannot count to infinity because infinity is not a number. Yes, it would take a very long time to count very, very, very large numbers but that is not the point and it is not your question. I think to be mathematically consistent we would have to say it is not defined.

Perhaps a second longer than it would take to count to infinity minus 1. :-)
Or you could get an infinite number of friends to help you and working in parallel you'd be done in no time. It would just be very noisy as everyone blurted out their assigned number at once. :-)

Since the range of numbers from 1 to infinity (inclusive) is infinitely large, it would take you an infinite amount of time to complete the task.
I wouldn't bother trying if I were you

I've heard that that there is a new supercomputer called Marvin (he's a bit paranoid yer know), that, once completed, can count to infinity.
Unfortunately they chose Vista as the operating system, so he'll take till inifinity to boot up... ;-)

tricky tricky...being that infinity is, well, infinite...you would never stop counting. you could count for the rest of your life, and would never hit infinity.
