It makes all the right noises as if it's printing, and the computer says the black and white and colour cartriges are full however no image comes out. Do you know why? And can it be rectified? thank you

Either your ink cartridges are cloged and need the heads cleaned or you got some bad ink cartridges.
Try cleaning the printing heads first and if that dont do it new ink cartridges will.

You dont mention what type of printer do you used it. but if you used hp try to remove the and put in the paper or news paper then shake it very well because sometime the ink is dry . also try to run the cleaning utilityof the hp printer. try also to open the printer cover in clean with the clean in soft cloth the white magnitic plastic cord where the carttridges connected. the same in epson shake well the ink carttridges or if you have alcohol or lacker thinner wet the tissue then put there the carttridegs for one minute to melt the drying ink.

well first try removing the catriges clean it and then put it back right click on your printer and go to maintainance try clean head wizart but dont print the patern page because it consumes lot of ink and then later say allign catrige hope this works ...bye

Try removing the cartridges and cleaning the bottom with Meths. wear gloves or you will get ink on your fingers
