A man at Home Depot told me that they sell texture paint for wood panels. I am interested in doing that but what about the molding? I don't want molding but if I have to have it do I buy it and paint it the same color of the walls?

Good question; and can be an option.

Molding is an aesthetic addition primarily; in a sense that it creates a more "finished" look. Molding also is often designed for the purpose of "Covering" flooring at the perimeter areas of a room; albeit that isn't the case with carpeted floors.

Without knowing what your flooring is; certainly you can use a small cove base as opposed to the usual (5.5 in.) and you can cause it to blend with the wall color; OR if you have hardwood or laminate flooring; you might stain it to match that. Pretty much a personal choice; there are no LAWS set in tablets from the Mountain.

Enjoy...Good luck.

Certainly you can PRE-paint the molding; install it; and do minor bard head touch ups after the fact. Since you state "texture" finish; you'll likely hide flaws.

If you do have to have it, you could probably match semi gloss paint to the texture paint color. That way it would match the walls without the texture.

Personally, I like the molding, as it seems to protect the walls a bit from things bumping them along the floor area. It can also be fun to paint them a constrasting or complementary color to accent the room.
