Yes and no. Using the games free ships and blimps to transfer between continents you can reach anywhere in WoW by walking.
In fact you have to walk to most places the first time to activate the transportation way-point (most cities and outposts have one.)
On the other hand, WoW areas are divided by monster level. And if you attract the aggro of a monster that is too powerful for you, you will be killed. Walking on major roads gives you some protections, since monsters rarely wander onto them, but some places don't have those roads, and monster DO wander onto them from time to time.
Also, WoW is divided into two factions: the Alliance and the Horde. If you try to enter a city that is not of your faction you will be attacked by the NPC guards that are scattered about each city. These guards are FAR more powerful and numerous than any one player, so any single person trying would be stomped flat. Large war parties have raided towns before, and they have traveled from one end of the city to the other, eliminating everyone, but those are VERY rare.

You're pretty safe walking nearly anywhere, just don't approach major cities or towns that are aligned with the opposite faction you're playing (i.e. Alliance or Horde). If you play on a PvP server, members of the other faction can attack you anywhere you go.

You can walk anywhere you want on the same continent as you are on. But there are much faster ways including Boats, Zepplins, and Flight Paths. The only time you can't walk is between Continents (Requires loading screen) and between Worlds (Again, requires loading screen).

Yes, but you move with the arrow keys, and half the world, depending what kind of server you're on, is like the runescape wilderness.

well you can walk most places. there are two continets though so depending on your alignment depends on where you can catch a zep or boat. there are flight paths but you must aquire them as you go along. these do cost but it all depends on your reputation with that location and/or faction.
happy gaming!
