I'm just curious when we women receive flowers why is it that we automatically smell them. What is it that causes us to react in this manner. might be a silly question but i was just wondering.

Unless they are freesia or a lily, there are very few flowers that really have scent. And the scent they might have is not terribly pleasant. So truly, I think the reason we smell them instinctively like that is because we've seen it done so many times - tv, movies, commercials, etc.

Have you also noticed that it feels a little awkward when you receive them? There is great pleasure and happiness and, often, surprise...but there is also a sense of awkwardness...or maybe thats just me...

b/c if the flowers they've received smell good then they would be able to tell if that person really cares for them

women just likes anything that smells nice so whenever your going out with a girl, just put on nice new perfume and not too much or they'll run off.

I thing it is a sign of appreciation. The moment you receive flowers you want to show you are glad about the gift you received, it is nice...and a nice flower is one that smells good. The best way to explore flowers is smelling them..when you receive chocolate, you taste it, you get a CD, you put it in your player, you get a Kashmir blouse you feel it...you get flowers...you smell them.

I do because I enjoy the smell of fresh flowers. I smell the ones I pick them out of the yard too, for the same reason.

Because flowers have a pleasant scent that is part of the experience of enjoying them.

...Because flowers are associated with a pleasant smell...

If guys bought us more flowers that stink, maybe us women would learn our lesson about sniffing flowers.
